Dr. Moyer is a physicist and is a Patent Agent licensed by the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1994.
He specializes in health, safety and assistive technologies. He was the agent for forty issued patents from 1996 to 2002 when he stopped accepting primary responsibility for new work. He is the original agent for over a dozen applications now pending and moving toward issue. He is a senior adviser for Sabre Technical Services Corporation. He is an Adjunct Professor at John Marshall Law School's Center for Intellectual Property Law teaching patent writing. He is pro bono CEO of Alzheimer's Spoken Here, Inc. which is a not-for-profit organization advocating on Alzheimer's issues and initiating projects helping people live with Alzheimer's.
His other pro bono work has included service on the Executive Committee of Chicago's MIT Enterprise Forum, on the Board of the Economic Development Council, and as Chair of the Economic Development Sub-Committee of Chicago's Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee.
He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. He taught and did research at various institutions including University of Wisconsin, IIT, Northwestern, Fermilab, and Texas A&M. His research support has included NDEA, NSF, MacArthur foundation, Welch foundation, and Ford Foundation grants. He has published extensively on topics in Physics, History, Philosophy, Sociology, and Alzheimer's. He is a frequent consultant, invited speaker, and organizer of Conferences, Colloquia, and Seminars on these and other topics. He was elected to Sigma Xi and Sigma Pi Sigma and is a member of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
